How They Found Us

As with many of our clients, these Mattawan homeowners found us at the Kalamazoo Home & Garden Expo

Main Problem

When this outdoor loving family moved into their home, there was a standard concrete slab located at the entrance to their walkout basement. This served as additional entertaining space when the deck became crowded. However, the concrete slab was not large enough to accommodate many friends and family. Another issue was the open space under the deck. As with most homes, this open under deck area is essentially a wasted but very usable space. Like many newer neighborhoods where multiple backyards converge, there is not a sense of privacy. And since this couple was getting a hot tub, privacy was going to be important.

The Project

Being visual people, a landscape design was important to these Mattawan residents. After the design was complete, and material finalized, the project began. A stamped concrete was chosen for the patio surface, which is economical, yet very stylish and durable. The patio now includes the whole under deck area, which leads over to a new hot tub. To obtain privacy around their hot tub, we installed a few hardy evergreen trees, tall grasses, and some larger flowering shrubs to add color. Lastly, we installed a custom built fire pit for the family to enjoy, as well as low-voltage landscape lighting so their outdoor fun doesn't have to end when the sun goes down. This outdoor loving family now has ample space to entertain, private space to relax, and a new found love for their outdoor space.
